Just do it! She-Punks from 1977 to today
From the very beginning, punk was always more than just music: it was an attitude, a form of rebellion, a DIY culture and an expression of deep dissatisfaction with the status quo. This is precisely why punk feels just as relevant again today – at a time when young people around the world are searching for new forms of expression, empowerment and resistance. EINFACH MACHEN celebrates the women of the late ’70s and early ’80s punk scene. Inspired by the music scene in England, bands emerged in Düsseldorf (Östro 430), West Berlin (Mania D, later Malaria!) and Zurich (Kleenex, later LiLiput). They wrote songs about gender stereotypes and bourgeois conformity, about machos and dogmatic feminists. This film presents punk through the female lens and captures an unforgettable, irretrievable way of life.
