Die Unbeugsamen 2

With his documentary DIE UNBEUGSAMEN (2020), director Torsten Körner created a cinematic monument to the female politicians of the Bonn Republic and their struggle for political participation. Now, with the sequel DIE UNBEUGSAMEN 2 – GUTEN MORGEN, IHR SCHÖNEN!, he turns his gaze to the other side of divided Germany: the GDR.

The documentary shows women and their struggles for emancipation in the GDR, where female political participation was similarly rare. Fifteen self-confident women recount how patriarchy still ruled even in the land of state-mandated equality, creating a powerful kaleidoscope of gender relations in the workers' and farmers' state.
